Free Bagpipe Sheet Music – Let the Internet Downloader Beware!
Well… when you download free bagpipe sheet music from random corners of the Internet you may find a few gems, but I have noticed that quite often the “Free” musical scores will contain inconsistent, illogical grace note patterns that will clash with how you have trained your fingers to operate in sequence. Messing with random, poorly considered grace note patterns (actually, a lack of regular patterns) will seriously inhibit your ability to type your way through fast tempo musical scores. My pipe band, for example, rigorously adheres to common grace note patterns such as “G”, “G-D-E”, and the occasional “G-D-D” pattern. If you are playing a fast jig or hornpipe these grace note patterns need to be automatic to your fingers… or you are toast!
I have found that http://www.pipetunes.com carries a good catalog of tunes that include difficulty ratings, and an audio file for each tune. This is an inexpensive resource — pennies per tune— and I have found that the grace note patterns are consistent.
Worth every penny!
